I offered My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who tore out My beard. I did not hide My face from scorn and spittle.

4Asafo Awurade ama me nkyerɛkyerɛ tɛkrɛma
sɛ ɛnka asɛm a ɛhyɛ ɔbrɛfoɔ den.
Ɔnyane me anɔpa biara,
na ɔbue mʼaso ma metie sɛ obi a ɔregye nkyerɛkyerɛ. 5Otumfoɔ Awurade abue mʼaso
na menyɛɛ otuatefoɔ;
na mensanee mʼakyi. 6Mede mʼakyi maa wɔn a wɔboro me,
na mede mʼafono maa wɔn a wɔtutu mʼabɔgyesɛ.
Mamfa mʼanim ansie wɔn
fɛdie ne ntasuteɛ ho. 7Esiane sɛ, Asafo Awurade boa me enti,
wɔrengu mʼanim ase.
Enti na mayɛ mʼanim sɛ twerɛboɔ,
na menim sɛ mʼanim rengu ase. 8Deɛ ɔbu me bem no abɛn.
Enti hwan na ɔbɛbɔ me kwaadu?
Ɔmmra na yɛnhyia mu!
Hwan na ɔbɔ me soboɔ?
Ma ɔnka nsi mʼanim!
