Ní àtijọ́, kódà nígbà tí Saulu jẹ ọba, ìwọ ni ẹni tí ó darí Israẹli ní ojú ogun wọn. Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ sì wí fún ọ pé, ‘Ìwọ yóò sì jẹ́ olùṣọ́ Israẹli ènìyàn mi, ìwọ yóò sì jẹ́ olórí fún wọn.’ ”

Even in times past,* while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD your God said, ‘You will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”

1Gbogbo àwọn Israẹli kó ara wọn jọ pọ̀ sí ọ̀dọ̀ Dafidi ní Hebroni, wọ́n sì wí pé, “Ẹran-ara rẹ àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ ni àwa í ṣe. 2Ní àtijọ́, kódà nígbà tí Saulu jẹ ọba, ìwọ ni ẹni tí ó darí Israẹli ní ojú ogun wọn. Olúwa Ọlọ́run rẹ sì wí fún ọ pé, ‘Ìwọ yóò sì jẹ́ olùṣọ́ Israẹli ènìyàn mi, ìwọ yóò sì jẹ́ olórí fún wọn.’ ” 3Nígbà tí gbogbo àwọn ìjòyè Israẹli tí wọ́n ti wá sọ́dọ̀ ọba Dafidi ni Hebroni.
