For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, since he was a son-in-law of Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah.

Wɔhunuu sɛ Onyankopɔn mmoa na wɔde ayɛ adwuma no. 17Saa nnafua aduonum mmienu no mu, nkrataa bebree dii akɔneaba wɔ Tobia ne Yuda adwumayɛfoɔ no ntam. 18Ɛfiri sɛ, na Yudafoɔ bebree aka ntam sɛ, wɔbɛsom no. Afei, na Tobia ase ne Arah babarima Sekania. Na Sekania babarima Yehohanan nso aware Berekia babarima Mesulam babaa. 19Wɔkɔɔ so kaa sɛdeɛ Tobia ho yɛ nwanwa fa no kyerɛɛ me, na afei, wɔkaa biribiara a mekaeɛ nso kyerɛɛ no.
